How to skyrocket your success

Your stomach begins to rumble.

You noticed that you haven’t had anything to eat all date and hungry is an understatement at this point.  Of course, you check the refrigerator; and all that is in there is a piece of bacon, half empty jug of milk, and some coffee. So, you get in the car to head to a fast food spot.  There is only one problem.  You don’t have a taste for anything and no idea of what you want.

#TheStruggleIsReal

You may be experiencing the same feeling.  No, not driving around looking for something to eat.  But roaming aimlessly in life.  You hop to a new job, but it isn’t giving you the excitement that you are looking for.  You have no idea what to do with the blog that you just started.  And the business has been in the same place financially for over a year.

And just like you don’t know what you want to eat; you may lack vision.  It is what you want to achieve or accomplish.  In conversations, I have found that many people give their attention to what they don’t want instead of deciding what they desire.  What happens is that you may find yourself feeling for more but if you fail to have a vision of where you want to go; you will spend a lot of energy going nowhere.

When you have a vision these are some of the benefits that will skyrocket your success.

1. I’m Focused Man

I had a conversation with a woman last week, she went off for 30 minutes about how she hated her job and was looking for a new one.  So I asked type of jobs that she was interested in so that if I knew someone I could put a word in for her. Her response…any job.

She later shared that she was applying for any and every job.  When you don’t have a vision, you likely have a scattered focus.  Instead of a strategic game plan, you leave your future by chance; hoping that something will shake.  However, if you have a vision, you can zero in on what it is that you want.  You may begin to see the people that you can reach out to, organizations to join, and possible mentors.  Before you know it, you actually get offers and interviews to jobs that you want and not just to escape your current situation.

2. Left, Left, Left, Right, Left

Have you ever felt like you were stuck? You want to do something in your life but you have no idea on what it should be.  Which usually causes you to get frustrated!  It is also difficult to know what you should be doing or what to do next when you lack vision.  Even if you have a basic idea of what you want to achieve; you can get a sense of what your first step could be (or get with a coach to help you).  You can begin to get clear which helps you in taking action (aka getting Unstuck).

3. Hush, stop talking to me

Everyone seems to have an opinion on your life.  Their suggestions often come from a good place, but every idea they offer you isn’t meant to pick up and run with it.  So, how do you discern advice that you should implement and what should be left on the table? (can you guess it at this point). VISION! How does what they are offering align with my vision? If it doesn’t you keep it moving (save your time and energy), if it does entertain it.  But if you don’t know what you want, well you very well may end up doing just about EVERYTHING because it sounds “good.”

As you can see having an vision is uber important.  Take some time today to write down yours.  If you don’t know where to start ask yourself these questions:

What do I enjoy doing the most?

If I never had to work, how would I spend my time instead?

What will you regret not doing, or achieving?

What are my strengths?

How is someone’s life better when they cross my path?

As you write your vision, write it in the present tense as if it is already happening.  And remember the more detailed you are the better you will be able to see it with your mind.

Here’s mine for an example: To influence others through coaching, speaking, and teaching to overcome their fears so that they will be able to achieve their goals and pursue their passion.

Now it’s your turn, leave your personal vision in the comments!
