5 Habits that’s a must for Millennials in 2019

Christmas time is almost here, which can only mean one thing.  The New Year is right around the corner.  As we take inventory of all the people we are cutting off and leaving behind in 2018.  It’s another thing that you must consider to reach new levels and achieve your goals in 2019.

You become what you do daily.  And if you want to fear LESS so that you can do more in the New Year, here are a couple habits that you should start to practice.

It is easy to find things that aren’t going your way and fall down the black hole of complaining. Which usually opens up a can for a bad day.

“The traffic is bad”

“I can’t find a place to park”

“My project didn’t save”

“…this is the worse day ever!”

Instead, when you wake up begin to write down three things that you are thankful for.  If you don’t think you have anything to be thankful for take a moment to reflect on some things that you may be taking for granted.  One day, I wrote down how I was thankful that heat rises, because I stayed on the third floor and didn’t have to turn my heat on (cheaper electricity bill, AYE).

Let Me Guess 2019 Is Going To Be Your Year Too, Huh...

It’s the beginning of December. Which means that 2019 will be here next week. Once we complete all of the Christmas shopping it is time to mentally prepare for 2019. I’m already seeing how everyone is claiming the New Year as THEIR YEAR. Mostly from people who said that 2018 was going to be the year (but that ain’t none of my business though).

I can’t front, I was one of those people. I entered 2018 with high expectations of what I was going to achieve. It would be the year that I was going to quit my full time job. I would be traveling every week to a new speaking engagement. And The Fear Hurdler would be a household name. At the top of the year if you remember I re branded with a new logo, website and was ready to take over the world.

By August, none of the things that I thought would come to life did. Instead, I was confused on the content that I wanted to post, no idea of what my signature talks would be, a sub-par launch of the #FearHasNoPower Movement, and only making a couple dollars here and there in regards to revenue from t-shirt sells. 2018 wasn’t looking good for ya girl at all.

Dynamic Duo: Two tools to create an impactful year
And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. Habakkuk 2:1

Unlike most women, I REALLY hate to shop.  And it’s not that I don’t like stuff, but I’m frugal with my money (el cheapo) and if I don’t have to go to the store, then I won’t buy anything. But every once in a while somebody drags me.  I was in SC for Thanksgiving, and my little cousin wanted me to ride to Best Buy with him.  If it was anyone else I would’ve said NO (….chilllleeee I know the power of NO) but it is always a good time to catch up and spend some time while I was in town.

As we walked into the store, my cuzo found what he needed but then said those magic words “Let’s check out the TVs since we in here….”  Now before we walked in the store a new TV wasn’t even on my mind.  I have two in the house already and I don’t even watch TV as it is.

But the more I looked at it, I begin to say to myself...

Jas, it’s on sale, you can put this in the bedroom.”

“Watching Good Times on this TV would be so nice”

“….and LOOK, it a smart TV too.”

“You canceled Christmas so you know the money is in your account…”

“Go ahead and treat yourself, you been working so hard lately.”

But just 30 minutes ago I could’ve cared less, but as they were in front of me, a yearning burning desire was lit on the inside of me to GET THAT TV!

2016 Was Terrible, and 2017 Will Not Be Any Better

The end of the year is here and prophecies of how 2017 will be lit have already begun.  Preparing for the New Year is a wonderful thing however, January 1st, 2017 is not a genie in a bottle. As I look on social media, it seems that as if a lot of folks had a rough 2016.  Aside from death, which we can’t control; if you think the New Year will grant you a new life… YOU GOT LIFE F**KED UP!

What’s the rush?

“I can NOT wait until 2017 comes!”

What does rushing into the future do? (…don’t worry I’ll wait).  If we express the same behaviors, same thoughts, same actions, same everything…expect to have the same 2016.  The New Year does not bring a gust of good luck and your life turns for the better.

“Nothing will change unless you do” - Click To Tweet

Instead of waiting until the clock hits 12, how can you ensure that your 2017 will be different?  First thing first, let’s take a picture of this year.  Why do you feel as though it shaped out this way?

Were you still stuck at the same job?

Drama with the bestie?

More bills than money coming in?

Write it down.

Gearing Up for the New Year: A challenge to make 2016 your year…… .fo’ real this time #FaceYourFear

Can you believe that it is December already?  Seriously where does the time go? 2015 is almost finished, and 2016 will be here in just a blink of an eye.  As the New Year is right around the corner, I want to take this month to focus on preparing for 2016.  Because if you’re anything like me, you also huff and puff when seeing the “20_ _ is MY year!” “New Year, New Me,” statuses only to see that person do the same thing that they did the year before (after they said New Year new me last year……spaaaaaaare me).  So this year we WILL make it better than the last.  It is all about competing with yourself every day, and everyday getting better.

As we go along this journey of preparation don’t feel as though you are by yourself, because I will share with you some of my obstacles, and plans for 2016 as well.  Just as I will hold you accountable, feel free to get in my behind if and when I am slipping.  If you find yourself struggling don’t hesitate to shoot me an email (, and we will walk through it together. Make sure to subscribe to the email list to receive weekly reminders, and goodies on how we will conquer once the New Year arrive.
